Do Not Hump magnet. Black and beige. This is an Ande Rooney authentic reproduction porcelain enamel steel magnet measuring 2.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches tall.
Each piece of steel is cut and prepared to receive the colors by a process called pickling. The colors on the Do Not Hump magnet are not paints, but finely ground glass crystals referred to as porcelain enamels. These porcelain enamels are then kiln fired at 1350 F which causes them to fuse to the heavy 18 gauge steel plate.
Each color, black and beige, is applied by direct screen application and fired separately creating a durable, lustrous and rust resistant magnet.

**Interesting origin of this magnet - it is a recreation of an old railroad magnet, these were placed on rail cars that carried fragile loads. In the yards where they stacked up cars to be pulled by trains, in the old days, there was a mound (hump) that the car was pushed over - at this point the car would move on it's own until it came to the car it was to be attached to. At this point there could be quite a jolt as the 2 cars would lock together and might damage fragile cargo - hense the "Do Not Hump" magnet.
