Tripod Lamp, Antiqued Silver. A legendary conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker was known for his collection of precious batons, a series of pretty wives (six in all) and his insistence on taking along his own sheet music stand.
This was an elaborate tripod that had once supported an astonomical device at the London Observatory. He not only liked its design, but also felt it did not interfere with showing off his atheletic build and the fashionable cut of his long-tailed frock, given that conductors mainly turn their backs to the audience.
