Clipper Ship Lightning Half Hull

Authentic Models » Bar » AS190

Clipper Ship Ligntning, circa 1854. Hurtling down the ocean's higways, famous clipper ships made record passages to Canton and Sydney. Rounding Cape Horn while braving furious gales, they passed by lands originally called Terra Incognita. Their records of passage have been documented and their names are legendary. Half models were built by ship-wrights from the Age of Sail as a record of the specific shape of a ship's hull. Traditionally built from hollowed out, stacked planks of alternating color wood. Half models are highly collectible and make beautiful home or pub decor.
